Gareth is a European Patent Attorney whose work focuses on prosecuting patent applications in the electronics and optics sectors.
Prior to joining EIP Gareth spent three years working as a research scientist in academia designing, fabricating and characterising semiconductor optoelectronic devices for a diverse range of applications.
Gareth has particular experience in advanced semiconductor fabrication techniques, as well as expertise in optics, electronics and semiconductor device related technologies.

Education and qualifications
Gareth holds a first class master’s degree in Engineering Physics from Cardiff University. He subsequently went on to obtain a PhD on the fabrication of photonic structures in semiconductor laser diodes. This research investigated controlling the lasing properties of devices to access a wider range of wavelengths and allow integration with sensors and micro-fluidics for applications in data storage, telecommunications and biophotonics.
