Stephen is a UK and European patent attorney, and head of EIP’s representative office in Tokyo, Japan.
Stephen’s experience covers a range of technical fields, including mechanics, software, data processing, security, networking, telecommunications and computer modelling. He has significant experience in managing prosecution of multi jurisdiction patent portfolios, with particular expertise in coordinating prosecution of applications in Europe, the United States and the Far East.
Stephen joined EIP following two years in Japan under the support of the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation Scholarship Programme, through which he obtained a high level of Japanese language ability. Stephen worked with a number of Japanese multinational companies on projects ranging from gas turbine combustor simulations to policy research for future vehicle propulsion technologies.
Stephen has a first class degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in simulation of turbulent particulate flows, both from Imperial College London. Through his PhD, Stephen gained significant experience in the development of mathematical modelling methods and application of these methods using parallel simulation frameworks designed for high performance computing platforms. Stephen’s research lead to various journal papers and a book published by Springer-Verlag.
