Gary’s career as a leading IP lawyer spans more than 30 years and he has acted in large scale UK IP disputes and cross-border IP disputes both in Europe and the United States. He led the case of Kirin-Amgen v Hoechst Marion Roussel, and Research in Motion v Visto Corporation. Gary was ranked among the top UK patent litigators in the 2014 IAM Patent 1000.
Gary was previously Head of IP Litigation at McDermott Will & Emery UK LLP (MWE) in London, prior to which he was both Head of IP at Taylor Joynson Garrett (now Taylor Wessing) and then Managing Partner at Taylor Wessing’s London office.
As head of EIP Legal, Gary handles both contentious and non-contentious issues, including all aspects of IP litigation, licensing, technology transfer and commercial agreements. He has particular expertise in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, IT, and technology transfers.

- Acting for Unwired Planet International Limited in patent and FRAND litigation against Google, Samsung & Huawei (patents concerning Android, 2G, 3G and LTE technologies).
- Acting for Good Technology Inc. as part of multinational patent litigation in the field of mobile device management.
