Jake has a range of experience across computer science and mathematics including cryptography and computer security, quantum computing, algorithms and number theory.

Prior to joining the patent profession Jake completed a PhD in cryptography at the University of Bristol. His research focused on applications of cryptography to cloud computing, specifically on the problem of computing on encrypted data which has been outsourced to the cloud. His contributions include a new construction of a fully homomorphic encryption scheme, for which he holds a US patent, and new multi-party computation protocols. As part of his PhD, Jake interned for three months at Microsoft Research at the Microsoft HQ in Seattle.

Jake holds a first class master’s degree in Mathematics and a BA in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge.
